Configuration
Live mode
Keep uptime, memory, swap and disk current while the fetch is on screen.
By default a fetch shows the numbers it read at startup. With live mode on, the rows whose numbers move keep updating while the fetch is pinned or interactive.
sh
animfetch --pin --livetoml
live = true
live_interval = 2.0What it updates#
Only the rows whose value changes while you watch:
uptime, memory, swap, disk, disks, battery and temperature.
Facts about the machine, such as the OS, kernel and CPU model, are never re-read; that would be wasted work.
How it behaves#
- Off by default. An update never changes a fetch you did not ask to change.
animfetch --pin --liveturns it on for one run. - Pinned and interactive only.
--playis too short to matter and--onceis a single frame, so neither refreshes. - Cheap. Each refresh is a couple of file reads, and only rows whose text changed are repainted.
- It never changes the layout. Rows are never added or removed, and the art is never resized by a number changing. A read that fails once keeps the last good value rather than making the row vanish.
- It stays out of the way. Nothing is read while a full-screen program such
as
vimhas the terminal. live_intervalis the number of seconds between refreshes, clamped to 0.5-60.
Replaced rows are not refreshed#
A row you have given a value or command in overrides
is not the machine's reading any more, so live mode leaves it alone. A row that
only has a new label is still refreshed.
