Configuration

Modules

Every row animfetch can show, what it reads, and the default rows of each info style.

A module is one kind of row. modules lists the ones to show, in order:

toml
modules = ["os", "kernel", "uptime", "memory", "cpu", "custom"]

Leave modules unset to get the rows that suit your info_style. Set it and your list wins, whichever style is chosen. A module this machine cannot answer is skipped, so one config works across machines.

tree, sections, chips and iconic draw fixed blocks of rows and ignore the order of modules; they pick from it. classic, boxed, card and minimal follow it exactly.

Available modules#

ModuleRowNotes
osOSDistribution and architecture, such as Arch Linux x86_64.
hostHostThe hardware model from firmware (DMI). Skipped where it only holds filler.
kernelKernelThe kernel release. Styles that read fuller values add its name.
uptimeUptimeTime since boot.
packagesPackagesInstalled package count, with the manager, such as 1126 (pacman).
shellShellThe name of your shell. Fuller styles add its version.
shell_pathShell PathThe full path of $SHELL, where shell is its name.
wmWMWindow manager or compositor. Fuller styles add its version and session.
terminalTerminalThe terminal emulator.
fontFontThe desktop's UI font, from GTK's settings.ini. A machine that keeps it only in dconf shows none.
cpuCPUModel, threads and clock.
temperatureTemperatureThe CPU's temperature from its hwmon chip (k10temp, coretemp). Skipped without one.
gpuGPUGraphics card name, with discrete or integrated where it can be told.
memoryMemoryUsed and total.
swapSwapUsed and total.
diskDiskThe root filesystem.
disksDiskEvery local filesystem, one row each.
displayDisplayResolution and refresh rate of each display with a mode set. Needs /dev/dri.
batteryBatteryCharge and power state, one row per battery. A desktop shows none.
os_ageOS AgeTime since the root filesystem was created, which is when the system was installed.
customMarks where your custom rows go.
colorsThe classic 8-swatch terminal palette strip.

Examples#

A short list, in your order:

toml
info_style = "classic"
modules = ["os", "kernel", "shell", "memory"]

Every disk and battery in classic:

toml
modules = ["os", "uptime", "cpu", "memory", "disks", "battery"]

Changing a row#

To rename a module's row, replace its value, or fill it from a command, see Overrides and custom rows.
